History of Smits Photography

Smits Photography was founded in 2000 and is owned by husband & wife team of Chad & Deb Smits.

Chad and Deb were married in July 1999. As a newly married couple, we found that we were spending most of our time working and not spending enough time together. We also knew that as we started a family, we desired one of us to be able to stay home to raise our children. What that meant was having our own business out of our home and spending more time together as a married couple and also having a secondary income that would help us raise our children with one of us staying at home. We enjoy being owners in a business that allows us an opportunity to go out together, meet new people, and take some great pictures together. Before we started the business, we spent a lot of time asking people what they liked and disliked about photographers they encountered (from their wedding, weddings attended, family portraits, senior portraits, or whatever). It was from those collective comments that we built the foundation of business and knew what we did not want to do.

We wholeheartedly believe in the unity of marriage and the building and sustaining of families. We feel so blessed when couples and families allow us to enter into their lives for a few hours or for a day to capture a moment in time that will forever be captured in images.
