Thank you for considering Smits Photography for your portrait photography. Pricing listed on this page applies to family and child portraits.

Smits Photography prefers to take family portraits outdoors during the spring, summer, and fall months (weather permitting, of course). We have a number of locations we can suggest or you can choose another, even your home, if you wish! For indoor photography, Smits Photography has a number of backdrops from which to choose.

Following your portrait sitting, you will get a preview package of your images within 1-2 weeks of your sitting. You will receive a package containing a set of proof thumbnails and a CD/DVD slide show of digitally-captured images indexed for easy ordering.

Smits Photography exclusively uses Canon professional digital cameras. All final prints are developed digitally at a professional lab with Kodak products and are printed on Kodak professional paper.

Smits Photography works with people of all ages—and, yes, we also work with your four-legged family members, too! We have a limited selection of props and special settings—just ask what we have. Anything creative or unusual can be done, but advanced notice is required. Be creative, we are willing to work with you to get the shots you want!

Sitting Fee:
$100.00 for a single family unit
$175.00 for multiple family/multigenerational

Portraits with Smits Photography work like this:

Call or E-mail us to schedule your sitting date, time, and location(s).

Arrive to your sitting prepared with coordinating clothing to reflect your family’s style. The sitting fee of $100.00 or $175.00 is due upon completion of your sitting.

Relax and have a great time as we capture your family.

Single family units consist of parent(s)/guardian(s) and immediate children/step-children. We will spend approximately one hour with your family in a variety of outdoor settings using multiple poses. We will also photograph the parents as a couple, individual siblings separately, as well as groupings of the siblings together.

Multiple family/multigenerational units consist of combinations of grandparents, parents, children, grandchildren, aunts, and uncles. We will spend approximately 1½ hours with your family in a few outdoor settings as a large group. We will also photograph the individual families separately as well as sibling/spouse combinations and grandparent/grandchildren combinations.

Within 1-2 weeks of your sitting date, you will receive a preview package containing indexed thumbnails and a CD slide show from which you can view your image previews. You will also get 90-day online proofing from your sitting.

Finally, order what suits you! You will be able to order through the preview package or online.

We do allow substitutions on the packages, but there may be a change in pricing. Just talk to us about what you’d like to do and we’ll accommodate your request as best as we can.

If your order equals $65.00 or more, you are eligible to purchase the Wallet Special. You get 50 wallets (wallets must be ordered in sets of 2s) of up to two poses from your preview images at this discounted price—that is a savings of $40.00!

Memory Albums

Now, you can celebrate your family with a memory album creatively designed to highlight images from your session. Just to give you an idea of pricing, we have provided some size options below. However, all books are custom and can be larger or smaller as the client wishes. These books feature edge-to-edge printing and a wraparound image cover - a unique album option and a great gift! There is discount pricing available when you order more than 2 of the same designed album.

Greeting Cards
Throughout the year, we offer picture greeting cards (for holiday greetings, wedding notes, high school senior open houses, anniversary parties, and baby announcements).

Clothing and Animals
When scheduling your family portrait sitting, we ask that you let us know what the family members will be wearing. We will consult with you on clothing options if you are not sure what to wear. We will need to know ahead of time how many family members and ages of the children included and if any animals will be present.

Sittings
We prefer to schedule portraits during the spring, summer, and fall months where we can utilize some interesting outdoor settings. We have a number of settings we like to use, but if you have a favorite, we’ll go there, too (including your home)! If only indoor portraits are requested, we can schedule those at any time during the year.

Digital Retouching
Digital retouching can be done for an additional fee. We will automatically correct anything that was beyond our control. However, corrections such as softening of facial lines, removing blemishes or unwanted marks, removing glass glare, eye swaps, and the like are available for $15.00 for each type of correction per image.

Payment
Smits Photography accepts cash and personal checks (made payable to “Smits Photography”). Payment for your sitting fee is due at the conclusion of the sitting. When you prepare your order, full payment is due upon placing your order. Prices are subject to change without notice. Prices include applicable sales tax.
